ArmInfo.The weapons found in the territories belonging to the family of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan do not have any connection with the March 1, 2008 case, the Head of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan assured reporters in an interview with journalists.
According to him, the expertise has been completed and no matches have been found. Khachatryan also said that the March 1 case is in the active phase, investigative measures and interrogations are carried out on a daily basis. At the same time, he refused to answer the question of whether the third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, was questioned.
To note on August 9, the director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan stated in an interview with journalists that according to the preliminary version, the weapons found could be related to the events of March 1, 2008 in Yerevan, when ten people were killed in a clash of demonstrators and law enforcement officers. Hovik Abrahamyan's brother was arrested within this case, he is accused of illegal possession of weapons.
Hovik Abrahamyan himself called the case fabricated, and shamed the current authorities for "illegal" actions against representatives of the former ruling regime.
