ArmInfo. On behalf of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, an official dinner was given at his residence in honor of the head of Canadian government Justin Trudeau, who arrived in Yerevan on an official visit.
As the press service of the RA government told ArmInfo, during his welcoming speech, Pashinyan noticed that in recent days he constantly heard the expression "a piece of light" addressed to his Canadian counterpart, which fully corresponds to reality and reflects the most important desire of a modern person, namely to be original, be surrounded by real people, have real power, a government that lives in reality and realises the real problems, can talk about truth, about reality.
"Today, my Canadian counterpart and I talked about the fact that today people most of all need not social benefits, which is also important, but respect from their own authorities, to be heard by their own authorities. We must be surrounded by real content, no matter how difficult and unpleasant reality is, "said Pashinyan, assessing the meeting with Trudeau as a victory for the truth.
At the same time, he expressed the conviction that relations between the countries are being built and are most of all determined by relations between people, and everything he said characterizes the attitude that exists in Armenia towards Canada. "This is discussed a lot in Armenia, and Mr. Prime Minister also noted that in 1984 he had visited Armenia with his father Pierre Trudeau. And I hope that Justin Trudeau understands that they were not alone with their father during that Soviet period. And in the archive of our National Security Service, we found this photo. It is noteworthy that since Justin was at a young age at that time, he didn't arouse the interest of the security service, so he wasn't captured by cameras. I am pleased to present you this photo, " Pashinyan said. He also gifted to his Canadian counterpart socks, specially designed for him by the Armenian designers.
In turn, Trudeau noted that 30 years ago he had the opportunity to visit Armenia with his father, but now he returned with great pleasure. "I am very glad to get acquainted with the vector along which Armenia is walking, with its people. Today, many countries shift away from democracy, amenable to populist aspirations, and in general there is a certain regression. And today in Armenia you are firmly and proudly moving in the right direction, you are leading to democracy and I believe you are doing this with pride, "the Canadian Prime Minister said.
He also expressed the conviction that the Prime Minister of Armenia perfectly met the challenges of Francophonie and received the event perfectly.
