ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his spouse Anna Hakobyan are meeting the heads of the delegations participating in the summit of the International Organization of La Francophone (OIF). Together with the Prime Minister of Armenia, guests are welcomed by the Secretary General of the OIF Michaelle Jean. The ceremony of meeting the delegations, as well as the summit itself, takes place in the Sports and Concert Complex named after Karen Demirchyan.
The 17th Summit of OIF will last two days; delegations from more than 80 countries arrived in the capital of Armenia to participate in its work. Among the participants are French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Several documents will be adopted within the framework of the Summit, including the Yerevan Declaration "Living Together", six resolutions, one of which concerns the settlement of conflicts.
The OIF Summit takes place once in two years. During the Summit, the place of the next summit will be determined, and a new Secretary General will be elected. It is possible that Michaelle Jean will be re- elected to this post.
A concert will be held on the Republic Square in Yerevan tonight. Its part will be dedicated to the memory of famous French chansonnier of Armenian origin Charles Aznavour, who died on October 1. . In parallel with the summit in the Armenian capital, a village of Francophonie has been organized, whose visitors can familiarize themselves with the culture and economy of several dozens of countries participating in the OIF.
