ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is holding a meeting with Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan in the Armenian government.
According to the press service of the government, the issue of holding early parliamentary elections is also on the agenda of the meeting.
Participation of representative of the Supreme Body of ARF Dashnaktsutyun in the meeting is not excluded.
As ArmInfo previously reported, Pashinyan told reporters today that he intends to discuss the current situation in the country with the leader of Tsarukyan bloc Gagik Tsarukyan and representatives of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun party.
"Despite the fact that the MPs from the Tsarukyan bloc and the ARF supported the sensational draft on amending the law on the regulation of the National Assembly, from an interview with Gagik Tsarukyan, I realized that he was not against early parliamentary elections in December of this year, so I intend to discuss the situation with him. In fact, I had an informal meeting with him on the eve, and we fixed mutual understanding on the issues on the political agenda, I think we will continue negotiations on this basis. I also intend to meet with the deputies from ARF, since in Paris I talked with representatives of this party from the Diaspora, "Pashinyan explained, saying that he had discussed the situation in the country in Paris with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian. He noted that he intends to hold another meeting on this topic with Sarkissian on his return to Yerevan on October 9. At the same time, Pashinyan found it difficult to answer the question of whether Sarkissian will sign the draft on amending the law on the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, which significantly complicates the procedure for the dissolution of parliament.
At the same time, he confirmed his intention to resign from the post of prime minister to achieve early parliamentary elections (if in the case of the dismissal of the head of the cabinet, the parliament does not elect the prime minister twice, then it will be dissolved according to the Law, ed. note). Nevertheless, Pashinyan noted that his resignation would be only of a legal nature, de facto he would continue to fulfill his duties as prime minister. "I want the people to understand this nuance and not worry, because I am not going to do anything against the will of the people or create a situation that puts the power of the people under threat, at least theoretically," Pashinyan concluded. In response to the remark that the Republican Party does not exclude the possibility of nominating its own candidate for prime minister in the event of his resignation, Pashinyan said that if this is true, then the RPA "continues not to understand" the situation in the country.
"The RPA constantly declares the need to create an atmosphere of tolerance in the country, but it does everything itself so that the people continue to" not tolerate "it. "- summarized the prime minister.
