ArmInfo."The year 2018 was symbolic for Armenian-American ties," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, speaking yesterday an exhibition called "Armenia" at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
According to the prime minister, this year Armenian-American cultural ties have significantly strengthened - "in unprecedented way " the Armenian culture is represented in the US, the 400th anniversary of the Armenian presence on American land is celebrated.
According to Pashinyan, due to the current exhibition, the perception of Armenia and Armenian culture in the US will change, museum visitors will get acquainted with the history and culture of the people, who were the first to adopt Christianity as a state religion. The exhibition features 140 unique exhibits of the Armenian cultural heritage up to the 17th century from Matenadaran, the National Historical Museum of Armenia and the Saint Echmiadzin Museum: manuscripts, miniatures, khachkars, early printed books, work by miniaturists Toros Roslin, Sargis Pitsak, Toros Taronatsi, and theologian Grigor Tatevatsi. The most ancient exhibit at the exhibition dates back to the 4th century AD. The exhibition opened on September 20, and will last until January 13, 2019.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the museum's president Daniel Weiss and the museum director, as well as to the Armenian church, which provided the exhibits - in the person of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and Jerusalem and the Holy See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
