ArmInfo. The need for the struggle for every voice of the voter was felt by all the political forces that took part in the election campaigns, including  representatives of the authorities. This was announced on September  23 by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan  after voting at the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan at  the polling station in Shengavit district of the capital of Armenia  located in kindergarten N133.

According to him, what happened in the pre-election period was like a  real election campaign of political forces. There was struggle for  every voice, and in this struggle there was also a heat of passions.  "In any democratic country in the world, in the course of real  elections such kind of incandescence is a normal phenomenon," the  head of government said, adding that henceforth the fate of the  elections will not be decided in the offices. "There will be no more  elections in Armenia, the fate of which was decided in the offices,  the results of which were transferred to the CEC, the Police and the  National Security Service," Nikol Pashinyan said, apologizing for the  rush in connection with the departure to New York for the UN General  Assembly.  Already on the way to the airport "Zvartnots" on his  Facebook page, the Prime Minister expressed his hope for a quiet  election. He urged the residents of the capital of Armenia to show  responsibility and take an active part in the voting.  The Prime  Minister also said that immediately after participating in the work  of the UN General Assembly, he will leave for Dushanbe, where he will  take part in the next meeting of CIS heads of state.

Extraordinary elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan started  on September 23 in the capital of Armenia. The need for early  elections arose after the former mayor of the city, Taron Margaryan,  resigned.  After the Council of Elders could not elect a new mayor,  the Government of the Republic of Armenia terminated the powers of  the members of the Council. For the conduct of elections from 08.00  all 475 polling stations were opened. Voting will last until 20.00.  There are four blocs and eight parties in the elections. According to  the results of the vote, the first number of the list of political  force, which received more than 50% of the vote, automatically  becomes the mayor of the capital of Armenia. If none of the political  forces has won more than 50% of the votes, all factions included in  the Council of Elders have the right to nominate their candidate, who  must be elected by a majority vote of the members of the Council,  consisting of 65 members. The party's candidate is Heritage Party  leader Raffi Hovhannisyan.
