ArmInfo. Within the framework of measures to combat corruption and economic crimes, the Armenian Police uncovered the thefts committed at the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
As the press service of the RA Police told ArmInfo, within the framework of the events and materials prepared, it was found out that the officials of the Institute, from the official position, forged official documents and squandered funds on an especially large scale for mercenary purposes. "During the preliminary investigation it was found out that in 2012-2016, an English teacher at the Institute was appointed pro-rector in the field of personnel management, international cooperation and interuniversity work." In fact, he did not teach at the Institute, but received a salary of about 3,500,000 drams. , it turned out that the wife of the pro-rector and cousin of another pro-rector were alternately appointed by chairmen of the department, but in fact they did not attend the work, although they received a salary. As a result, 900,000 drams were wasted, " in the message of the RA Police.
The department also reported that since January 2016, without significant need, allegedly for the needs of the Institute, an agreement was concluded on renting a vehicle with the wife of one of the vice-rectors. The Armenian Police reported that according to the information received, the vehicle was operated by the pro- rector himself, and 8,150,000 drams were wasted from the Institute's financial resources for the salary of the driver and for renting the car. A criminal case has been initiated, the investigation continues.
