ArmInfo. Heritage party leader, candidate for Yerevan mayor Raffi Hovhannisian does not rule out that the results of the upcoming elections to the Council of the Elders of Yerevan will be surprising, in case the citizens take a meaningful decision. He stated this on September 17 at a press conference.
According to him, these elections are already demonstrating a significant progress, since they allow us to elect legitimate authorities. However, according to Hovhannisian, their results may well differ from the expectations of many, "and lead to developments which are not even visible now."
In addition, as the leader of the "Heritage" pointed out, as history shows, euphoria after the victory of this or that civil movement usually results in over politicization of the society. "We already see the prerequisites for this," he said, urging the political forces for restraint. In today's realities, he said, it will take 3-5 years for the political forces and alliances to be finally formed.
According to the politician, it is wrong to be guided by the principle "The state is me". Nevertheless, he did not criticize the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan that the candidate for mayor of the capital Hayk Marutyan is closest to the people. "It is his right to make statements," said Hovhannisian, noting that Marutyan, like other candidates, is likable to him, in this context, according to the party leader "each of them can be a good mayor".
