This issue will be the subject of discussions at an extraordinary meeting of the RA National Assembly on September 13.
According to the President of the Armenian parliament Ara Babloyan, according to Article 108 of the RA Constitution and Article 20 of the Law "On NA Rules of Procedure", at least 1/3 of the MPs appealed to the head of the legislative body to hold an extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly on September 13 in order to form an investigative commission for investigation of the fact of illegal wiretapping. The session will begin at 12.00 local time immediately after the regular meeting, which is currently taking place. The members of the commission and the scope of investigation will be determined by the parliament.
Yesterday, the Investigative Committee of Armenia received a criminal case initiated by the Office for Supervision of Investigation of Especially Important Cases of the RA Prosecutor General's Office on the violation of the confidentiality of the telephone conversation, recording and promulgation of the audio recording between the Director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan and the Chairman of the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan.
On September 11, an audio recording of a telephone conversation appeared in the network, during which the interlocutors discussed the criminal case on the events of 1March 2008. A few hours later, the National Security Service Director Artur Vanetsyan and SIS Head Sasun Khachatryan confirmed the authenticity of the audio record, calling it a "pathetic attempt" to prevent disclosure of all the circumstances of the case on March 1, 2008 events.
