ArmInfo. Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan met with representatives of the Tumo Creative Technologies Center, led by the executive director of the Mari Lou Center.
As the press service of the Defense Ministry told ArmInfo, issues related to the prospects of the Tumo- Army project were discussed at the meeting, further ways of interaction were outlined.
The Center trains people in the age of 12 to 18 years working in the IT field with the use of modern technologies. <Tumo> was originally conceived as a center for post-secondary education for teenagers. The founder of the center was an American businessman of Armenian origin Sam Simonyan.
The construction of the center began in 2003 and ended in 2009-2010. The grand opening of the "Tumo" center took place on August 14, 2011 and was accompanied by a concert of rock musicians Serge Tankian and Dorians. For the first 5 years of the center's existence, more than 10 thousand people have been trained in it. In 2016, the center of creative technologies <Tumo> was on the first place in the rating of innovative schools of the world, compiled by the French magazine <We demain>. In January 2013, with the support of the Central Bank of Armenia, Tumo opened a training program in Dilijan. In partnership with the All- Armenian Charitable Union, Tumo opened a branch in Gyumri in May 2015. In September 2015, a branch was opened in the city of Stepanakert in Nagorno-Karabakh.
