ArmInfo. Settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will allow establishing peace, security and stability in the South Caucasus region. Azerbaijan supports substantial, constructive negotiations, which would help to drive process from dead-lock, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Hikmet Hajiyev stated in an interview to Moscow- Baku website.
According to him at the moment the Armenian side is studying the process of conflict settlement, Azerbaijan on its side is ready to further take concrete steps jointly with the OSCE MG co-chairs aimed at the settlement of the conflict through substantial and intensive talks, and stands for the settlement of the conflict on the basis of norms and principles of the international law in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
The Spokesperson recalled that the first meeting with the Azerbaijani side after the change of power in Armenia was held in Brussels on July 11 on the level of foreign ministries with the intermediary of OSCE MG co-chairs on the sidelines of the NATO summit. The second meeting is planned on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New-York also with intermediary of OSCE MG co-chairs and the Personal Representative of OSCE Chairman -in- Office. As time shows Azerbaijan and Armenia's Ministers hold meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly almost every year and this year will not be an exclusion>, Hajiyev said.
He noted that certain political processes are taking place in Armenia, which he refused to comment. ''Elections are planned in Armenia. It is very important that in the long term the political processes in this country stabilize, after which there would be certainty and clarity, including, in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. But at the same time, we believe that during this period consultations should continue at the level of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and there should not be any restrictions that would not allow drive the negotiations process from the dead-lock.
That is why the meeting of Azerbaijan and Armenia's foreign ministers is planned in the near future'', Hajiyev noted.
At the same time he once again pointed at Baku's stance on the Karabakh issue. ''The format of the conflict settlement and the agenda are known for all. The conflict should be settled within the MG OSCE format with participation of the conflict sides-Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenian Armed Forces should be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, after which the political process for conflict settlement can be launched'', Spokesperson of the Azerbaijani FM stated adding that Baku welcomes Russia and OSCE MG other countries' steps aimed at the conflict settlement.
