ArmInfo. There is no coalition, no political majority in Armenia, the main power in the country belongs to the citizens of the country, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on August 17 at a rally dedicated to 100 days in the power of the new government. The Prime Minister noted that the main victory of the people was giving the citizens of Armenia opportunity to decide who should take the post of prime minister.
Pashinyan also touched upon early parliamentary elections, which are to be held before May 2019. "Now, according to the norms of the law, as prime minister, I must resign, after which the parliament should not elect a new prime minister twice, which will lead to early elections, but I think that some deputies may have hopes that as soon as I resign, they will be able to choose another prime minister, I will not name him. These people do not understand what is happening in Armenia, "the prime minister stressed. Pashinyan noted that he has certain ideas how to avoid such a situation. "We want to introduce Constitutional amendments according to which early elections can take place not only in case of the resignation of the prime minister, but the parliament's decision to dissolve itself." I think that the National Assembly should adopt these changes. But I would like to emphasize this will happen only if you want it. If you want to do this, we will organize the promotion of these changes in the Parliament, since the most important thing for us is expressing the will of the people of Armenia, "the Prime Minister concluded.
