ArmInfo. Recently, there have been much talks about Armenian- Russian relations and some politicians say that their level has deteriorated significantly, I want to assure that it is not true, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated at a rally on the Republic Square on August 17.
Pashinyan said that recently one of the representatives of the Republican Party was in anguish at the deterioration of the Armenian-Russian relations. "I met twice with the Russian president and had a telephone conversation with him three times, and I want to note that today considering Armenian-Russian relations as tense, is at least ridiculuous." I want to note that as of today the Armenian-Russian relations are not tense, but on the contrary, for spite of RPA representatives, they are at a very high level and will constantly improve, "Pashinyan stressed.
He noted that at the very beginning of his inauguration as prime minister, he had noted that there will be no serious changes in Armenia's foreign policy. "I want to note that our goal is to improve our relations with Russia, in addition, we want to raise them to a new level." I would also like to note that after certain procedures I will report on a new Armenian-Russian humanitarian program, which is unprecedented in the history of the Third Republic, and this will be an evidence that we are taking steps to deepen our cooperation. The Republic of Armenia does not move either to the West or to the East. Our Republic has its own position and looks ahead'', the Prime Minister stressed.
Pashinyan also noted that the Armenian authorities also intend to expand their cooperation with the EU. "During my visit to Brussels, I also raised some important issues concerning our cooperation with the European Union, and we will continue to develop our relations with both the US and Iran. The interests of our country are above all for us and we will do everything to promote them in the international arena, "Pashinyan said.
He also noted that as a result of actions of the previous authorities of Armenia certain negative moments in Armenia were connected with Russia. "The fact is that some corrupted officials wanted to shift their guilt on someone else stating that outside the country allegedly there are forces that prevent them from not being corrupted, and now, when they are halfway to prison, they are calling to Russia and say that the struggle is now being held against Russia, but this is nonsense, since there are no naive people, neither in Armenia, nor in Russia, our relations will continue to develop and will soon reach a completely new and unprecedented level, "the Prime Minister concluded.
