ArmInfo. The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, in the framework of the fight against illicit drug trafficking and smuggling, revealed and neutralized a group engaged in smuggling a large consignment of narcotic drugs.
As a result of the operational search activities and investigative actions committed by the National Security Service officers on August 13, 2018, a transnational criminal group was revealed whose members tried to a large consignment of drugs from Iran smuggle to Georgia through Armenia. As a result of the reconciliation of the operational intelligence data of the National Security Service, it turned out that a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, M.I. bought about 8 kilograms of heroin and bypassed the Armenian-Iranian checkpoint, illegally entered Armenia.
Being under the operational control of the NSS staff, he delivered drugs to Yerevan, where he was arrested. National security officers managed to identify the identity of the customers of the drug party: an Armenian citizen N.H. and citizen of Georgia J.K. were detained while receiving drugs. The latter were going to transport the goods further to Georgia and sell them. To note, in the framework of the criminal case N.K. and J.K. were arrested. The investigation continues.
