ArmInfo. Those who received 21% of the votes in the presidential elections did not even give an opportunity to talk and insisted on their rightness without any alternative, Armenian second President Robert Kocharyan, who is accused of overthrowing the constitutional order in Armenia following the presidential elections in 2008, stated in an interview with Yerkir Media TV channel.
At that time the law enforcement forces used brutal force against the demonstrators, 10 people were killed, more than 200 were injured. According to Kocharyan, those who got 21% of the votes did not want to talk, directly threatened the constitutional order and stability in the country. "The statehood was ruined and what? Should I be an outside observer of all this," Kocharyan said. He also noted that the Catholicos of All Armenians took steps to reconcile the sides, however the first president, who believed he had won the elections, refused to talk with him. When the police tried to lead the wave of rallies from the Theater Square to Matenadaran, where peaceful rallies were supposed to be held further, this time again the other side refused saying it would go all the way. Kocharyan outlined that the army did not shoot people, there was not a single wounded serviceman. The army did not encounter the protesters in any way. As for the weapons found at the place of brother of former Speaker of Parliament and Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and the possible use of these weapons against the demonstrators, Kocharyan stressed that everything "is possible" and answers to these questions should be given in the course of the investigation. And in general the word "possible" became the main thing in the charge against him and the whole accusation is based on this.
