ArmInfo. Deputy mandate of Vardan Bostanjyan ("Tsarukyan" faction) was transferred to Aytsemnik Ohanyan. The relevant protocol, as reported on the website of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia, was drawn up during the meeting of the Commission convened today.
On August 10, the chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ara Babloyan, signed a protocol on the termination of the powers of the deputy of the National Assembly Vardan Bostanjyan. The deputy of the Tsarukyan faction, the head of the commission on culture, education, youth and sports Vardan Bostanjyan submitted a statement on July 31 to Speaker of the Parliament Ara Babloyan on the addition of his mandate. The official reason for Bostanjyan's decision is unknown. However, the political circles do not exclude that the reason for this was Bostanjyan's statements about the arrest of the second president Robert Kocharyan, which differed from the official position of the Tsarukyan bloc. Bostanjyan, in particular, considered the arrest of Kocharyan a severe preventive measure, and said that the second president was subjected if not to political persecution, then, at least, to the persecution. Meanwhile, the deputies from the Tsarukyan bloc, the main force in which the Prosperous Armenia party created by Kocharyan, stated that the process is exclusively in the legal channel and they do not intend to speak in connection with these political statements.
