ArmInfo. The Armenian Prosecutor General's Office will submit an appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal in the case of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, Vahagn Muradyan, Head of the Investigation Department of Especially Important Cases at the RA Prosecutor General's Office told journalists and participants of the protest action against the release of the second president.
According to him, the supervisory authority has not received yet the text of the decision of the Court of Appeal. The decision is expected to be received within 1-2 days. "After we receive the decision of the Court of Appeal, we will discuss the possibility of applying to the Court of Cassation in accordance with the decision received," he said.
In addition, according to Muradyan, the fact that Alexander Azaryan, judge who considered the appeal of the former president , had previously worked in the office of the second president, is not a ground for the judge's disqualification.
To recall, yesterday after the Armenian Appeals Court granted the petition of the lawyers of former President Robert Kocharyan and canceled the decision of the court of first instance, taking into account the inviolability of the former heads of state, the Special Investigative Service of Armenia stated that the decision was illegal, and the Criminal Court of Appeal exceeded its jurisdiction. "We hope that the prosecutor's office will file a cassation appeal," the SIS said.
