ArmInfo. Watermelons of Azerbaijani origin were not imported to the territory of Armenia. This is stated in the message of the State Service for Food Safety of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the source, based on the data published in a number of media about the alleged Azerbaijani origin of a large batch of watermelons, the State Service conducted research that indicates that in July- August of this year watermelons were imported to Armenia mainly from Georgia and Russia. For the reported period, 1327 tons of watermelons were imported, of which 781 tons were delivered to the domestic market in the last week alone. Moreover, major part of watermelons was imported to Armenia from Russia - 1217 tons, which is almost 10 -fold higher than the volume of import from Georgia - 110 tons. During the import of watermelons from both countries, all the required supporting documents were provided, evidencing their origin.
