ArmInfo. Manvel Grigoryan's  lawyers appealed against the measure of restraint in the form of  arrest against their client in the Court of Cassation.

As Manvel Grigoryan's lawyer Arsen Mkrtchyan stated, they repeatedly  - both in the court of first instance and in the Court of Appeal  stated that Manvel Grigoryan's life is in danger, but the courts made  an illegal decision. According to him, Manvel Grigoryan has oncology,  diabetes, a number of concomitant diseases.  The defense of Grigoryan  has not yet received a notification that the complaint has been  accepted.

Besides, yesterday in the conversation with Radio Azatutyun, the  lawyer of the arrested general Arsen Mkrtchyan stated that Grigoryan  will respond to the statements by the second president of Armenia  Robert Kocharyan that in 2008 the then deputy defense ministers  Manvel Grigoryan and Gagik Melkonyan attempted to involve the army in  politics. According to him, his client, of course, was not happy with  Kocharyan's arrest, but the statements of the former president,  according to Manvel Grigoryan, are, to put it mildly, not nice. "As a  representative of the defense, I will say that such statements will  not remain unanswered. It's not beautiful. We will give their  assessment a little later if we have  to do this, "said the lawyer.

Robert Kocharyan, who is currently under arrest on charges of  overthrowing the constitutional order on March 1, 2008, said earlier  that he had held meetings with the military leadership on this issue  before March 1, 2008. "You remember exactly ... when they announced  that Manvel," Yerkrapah " union would soon join [the protesters on  March 1, 2008] and so on. The whole point of this meeting was the  following:  the army has no right to get involved in political  processes. Several of our generals: Manvel, who was Deputy Defense  Minister, as a member of the Yerkrapah Council, for two days, day and  night, discussed whether Yerkrapah should join the protesters or not.  This was an unacceptable phenomenon, and I simply demanded that the  Minister of Defense take measures to keep the army from being drawn  into political processes, "Kocharyan said in his last television  interview.

To recall on June 16, MP of parliament from RPA, General Manvel  Grigoryan was detained by the National Security Service of Armenia.  During the searches, the NSS officials found and seized a large  number of weapons and ammunition, in addition to that, a large  arsenal of unregistered weapons, up to mortars, and rations for  soldiers collected by schoolchildren was found in the mansion and at  the country house. On June 19, the Yerevan Court of First Instance  adopted a decision on applying restraint measures in the form of  arrest for a period of 2 months against the NA MP, General Manvel  Grigoryan.
