ArmInfo. In Armenia, a new situation has developed and everyone must adapt to it, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated commenting on the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the events in Armenia are contrary to the statements of the new Armenian leadership.
"I think this is a new situation and all of us have to adapt to this situation, including our Russian partners, and we ourselves. So, there is nothing the matter," Pashinyan said.
Commenting on the assessment that the rally to be held in Yerevan on August 17 is related to Lavrov's statement, Pashinyan assured that he initiated a rally on the occasion of the 100 days of the new government's work.
To recall, on July 31 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made a statement, in which he noted that the recent events in Armenia have clearly run counter to such a positive outlook and to the new Armenian leaders' recent statements to the effect that it does not plan to persecute its predecessors for political reasons. Over the past few days we have brought our concerns to the attention of Armenia's leaders on several occasions. We expect that the situation will nevertheless follow a constructive path.
The next day, on August 1, in his video message to the people, Nikol Pashinyan called on the citizens of the country to gather on August 17 at 6:30pm on the Republic Square "in honor of 100 days from the day of Nikol Pashinyan's appointment as RA prime minister." According to him, at the rally he will discuss with the people conducted activities, the upcoming plans, and those projects that are aimed at the "jumping" development of the country. At the same time, he noted the importance of the presence of every citizen of the country on August 17 in the Republic Square.
