ArmInfo. The court session of the appeal court on considering the appeal of lawyers of the 2nd President Robert Kocharyan on changing his measure of restraint will continue today at 14:00pm.
Consideration of the appeal against the decision of the court of first instance started yesterday at 12:00 and lasted about 8 hours. Nevertheless, according to one of the lawyers of the former president - Hayk Alumyan, the reason for the delay is that both sides did not have time to present all the arguments. Robert Kocharyan himself was present at the court session, moreover, as Alumyan told journalists, he made a "bright" speech, which should be published.
To recall, the lawyers of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan submitted to the Court of Appeal an appeal on the decision of the court of first instance on the arrest. Two appeals are being considered today: the first one is on canceling the decision of the court of first instance and releasing Robert Kocharyan and the second one is Hayk Alumyan's appeal to change measure of restraint from arrest to release on bail.
Meanwhile, on August 8, General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia dismissed petition submitted by the lawyers with personal guarantees of 45 MPs of the National Assembly on changing measure of restraint against Kocharyan. On July 28 the Court of First Instance of Shengavit District of Yerevan granted the request of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia for choosing 2-month arrest as a preventive measure against the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. Former Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan is also being accused of the case, however he is wanted. The former head of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, and incumbent CSTO Secretary General Yury Khachturov was also charged under the case, he was released on bail.
