ArmInfo. The Board of the Council of the All-Russian Public Organization "Union of Armenians of Russia"(UAR) decided to support Sergey Sobyanin's candidacy in the upcoming election of the mayor of the Russian capital to be held on September  9, 2018.

According to the UAR, one of the factors that determine this support  is that "during S. Sobyanin's tenure of office the Strategy of the  National Policy of the City of Moscow was accepted and successfully  implemented, guaranteeing free national and cultural development of  representatives of all peoples living in the Russian capital. During  this period, with the support of the Moscow City Government, a number  of projects important for the development of the Armenian community  in Moscow and the deepening of Russian-Armenian humanitarian ties  were implemented, including such city-wide holidays as the Day of  Armenian Writing, the "Apricot" Festival, ''Solidarity''  International Prize, as well as measures to perpetuate the memory of  the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915, etc.''. As noted in the  message, "our goal is to present the stand of the Union of Armenians  of Russia to the electorate not only related to supporting Sobyanin,  but also about the importance of voting, as the exercise of one of  the main political rights of citizens guaranteed by the Constitution  of Russia."
