ArmInfo.The Minister of Defense of Armenia David Tonoyan, the Fund's press service reports, will head the Board of Trustees of the Fund for the Insurance of Military Servicemen.
"The Military Insurance Fund is pleased to announce that the Fund's Board of Trustees on July 19 made a decision to appoint Defense Minister of Armenia David Tonoyan to the post of Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
We are confident that under the experienced leadership of Minister Tonoyan, the Board of Trustees and the staff of the Fund will not only continue to diligently implement the statutory goals, but also the results of its activities will be more accessible to the Armenian people, "the Foundation said in a statement.
Earlier, on June 15, the Armenian government released former defense minister Vigen Sargsyan from the post of chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Military Insurance Fund. The substantiation to the draft resolution indicated that the adoption of the relevant decision was due to the fact that as a result of the change in the composition of the government, David Tonoyan was appointed the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, as a result, it became necessary to amend the Board of Trustees of the Fund for compensation of harm caused to the life or health of servicemen protection of the Republic of Armenia.
Since 2017 all working citizens of Armenia are obliged to pay monthly 1,000 AMD to the Military Insurance Fund. The fund will be used to address the social and health problems of servicemen and their families. According to the law, 9 people are involved in the Board of Trustees of the Foundation - three from the government, the Central Bank and civil society.
