ArmInfo. Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan met with European Comission Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katarina Mathernova who arrived in Yerevan for a three-day visit.
The head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski also participated in the meeting, the press service of the Armenian government told ArmInfo.
Grigoryan expressed the conviction that Mathernova's visit to Armenia is a good opportunity to once again discuss the current state of relations between Yerevan and Brussels, as well as the prospects for their development.
Mathernova, in turn, told about the main instruments of EU assistance, as well as new ideas for developing relations.
The interlocutors noted the importance of implementing the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in terms of developing relations. The sides exchanged views on the results of the poll on public opinion on Armenia-EU relations, stressing the importance of wide public involvement and awareness of all EU programs.
The EU representative expressed confidence that there is a serious potential for cooperation, and for its implementation, the parties should carry out a joint coordinated and harmonized work.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted the importance of cooperation with European partners both in the implementation of CEPA and in the implementation of the phase of reforms deriving from it.
In turn, Mathernova expressed willingness to work with the government to identify new areas of cooperation in order to maximize the potential of EU assistance.
The sides touched upon the cooperation of Armenia with the European financial organizations, discussed also the possibilities of their most effective use. The interlocutors also talked about the mechanisms for attracting high-level advisers from EU member states, through which the advisers will cooperate with the government to implement CEPA, as well as in coordinating interaction with donors, assisting the private sector, so that the latter can take advantage of opportunities that provides an agreement. In addition, the ''CEPA facility'' instrument of assiatnce will be applied, which can mobilize about 80 million euros to invest in private business.
