ArmInfo. In Armenia, the process of nationalizing the goal of sustainable development is accompanied by an ambitious reform program undertaken by the new Armenian government.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, on July 18, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated during a speech at the political forum of high-ranking officials on sustainable development held under the aegis of the UN Economic and Social Council in New York.
Recognizing the close partnership contacts and cooperation between the Armenian government and the UN Armenian team, Mnatsakanyan said that they are aimed at encouraging innovative initiatives.
In the implementation of the goals of sustainable development, the Armenian Minister singled out the role of a viable and strong civil society that is an inseparable part of Armenia's public life.
From the point of view of effective implementation of the UN 2030 agenda, the Armenian Foreign Minister stated the importance of regional and subregional cooperation, noting that it can serve not only as a basis for strengthening mutually beneficial contacts between neighbors, but also as an important means of building trust.
Presenting the changes that occurred in Armenia as a result of the "velvet revolution", as well as the subsequent processes, Mnatsakanyan noted that the new government, based on the broad mandate received from the people, is implementing a comprehensive agenda of reforms aimed at strengthening the rule of law and justice in the country, fighting corruption, ensuring equal opportunities in the social and economic spheres.
