ArmInfo. Investigation is  carried out in the 102nd Russian military base located in Gyumri in  connection with the incident in Panik village of Shirak region of  Armenia. Alexei Polyukhovich, deputy commander of the 102nd Russian  base in Armenia, told journalists on July 18, after the meeting with  the governor of Shirak region, "We have reached an understanding on  this issue.  Investigation is underway and its results will be  reported by the press service, "he said.

To note the headship of Panik village stated that exercises  accompanied with shooting (as it later turned out, with blank  ammunition) were held in the administrative area of the village,  however, no notification of the exercise was received, so many  villagers were frightened.

In turn, the governor of Shirak region Karen Sarukhanyan said that  the Russian military reported a force majeure situation and  apologized for the incident. "This happened for the first time, and  they assured that the next time this will not happen again, an  official investigation is being conducted against those guilty, and  they will necessarily bear responsibility," Sarukhanyan said.

Meanwhile, Armenian Prime Minister's Spokesperson Arman Yeghoyan  informed that this issue is under the close attention of the head of  government.

It is noteworthy that for already two decades servicemen of the 102nd  Russian military base have been conducting some elements of the  exercises in this area near the village of Panik, which is located  next to Alagyaz high-altitude range. "During the training sessions,  the Russian units on the outskirts of the village of Panik practiced  the group's ambush, in particular, the attack on the walking column  of the headquarters. I want to note that such exersices have been  conducted previously.However, it is unclear why this time it led to  such a reaction by a group of people, "the source from the Russian  military base told ArmInfo.
