ArmInfo. Problems and prospects for the development of modern physics were the subject of discussions during the July 17 meeting of Armenian President Armen Sargsyan with the employees of the National Scientific Laboratory named after Alikhanyan (Institute of Physics).
As the press office of the RA President reports, the scientists Ruben Mkrtchyan, Ruben Manvelyan and Albert Sirunyan took part in the meeting. Participants of the meeting discussed the programs implemented by the scientific institution. The President spoke about the importance of the development of physics in Armenia earlier in the course of the meeting with the head of the Committee on Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of RA Samvel Harutyunyan, Dean of the Faculty of Physics of the Yerevan State University Roland Avakyan and Associate Professor of the Theoretical Physics Department Ashot Hovsepyan. Armen Sarkissian expressed his readiness to assist in establishing cooperation with international scientific centers.
On July 12, at a meeting with the scientific leader of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna (Russian Federation), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia Yuri Oganesyan, on the perspectives of the development of the Institute of Physics. Then, in particular, the progress in the implementation of the program for the production of radioisotopes and the creation of a diagnostic center on the basis of the Institute of Physics was discussed.
