ArmInfo. The chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, David Ananyan, at a press conference on July 13 touched on "shameful" appointments in the department he heads.
Recently in the focus of attention of the public and mass media were new appointments in the State Revenue Committee of Armenia. In particular, the criticism touched upon the appointment of Karen Karapetyan, the head of the operative-search department of the SRC, who previously held the post of head of the tax department of the Kentron administrative district. As the media reported, the godfather of the head of the Armenian Police Valery Osipyan is one of the most corrupt officials. In addition, the public does not cease to discuss the biography of the deputy chairman of the department Ara Gabrielyan, who, as it turns out, in the recent past was convicted in the US for persecuting the 35-year-old ex-girlfriend with GPS. According to reports, after he had served part of the stipulated time, Gabrielyan received an early release in the event of making $ 500,000 payment, which he did.
According to Ananyan, he understands that there may be people who are "working against" in the information field. "We do not perceive this as "hostile" because society has the right to its own opinion, and if, after a nationwide awakening, the public does not see new faces, it may be that it is unhappy that people who have worked in the system for two decades are reassigned or receive new posts," he said.
Meanwhile, as Ananyan noted, he has his own vision on this issue - the lowest link in the system can be filled with young professionals, but the higher level - at the level of the decision-makers - should be entrusted to the old, experienced ones. "We have to ask ourselves, do not all beneficiaries of public awakening have equal rights? I think they have the right to that," he said.
According to the head of the SRC, he and the Prime Minister also had a conversation about the appointments. The head of the government, as Ananyan noted, also reacted with certain doubt to the appointments. "But we came to the conclusion that if the SRC fully fulfils the tasks assigned to the department, it turns out that the personnel appointments were, in fact, justified. If not, we will make conclusions," he said, stressing that if the personnel appointments do not justify themselves, then there is nothing for him to do in the SRC either."
As for the specific appointment of Ara Gabrielyan to the post of deputy chairman of the tax and customs department, then, according to Ananyan, he is not much interested in the fact of bringing to criminal responsibility Gabrielyan in the United States. "We must understand whether he is a defendant or a convicted person under the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, that is, whether there are legal obstacles to his appointment. Secondly, we must understand under what circumstances he was expelled from the United States, in a country with an uninterrupted legal system In addition, even if he was prosecuted there, he was fully punished and his conviction is considered to be canceled, so he is not considered a person who was punished under the Armenian legislation, and all the rest - and the world of emotions", said David Ananyan.
