ArmInfo. In the near future, the first consultations between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be held. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced on July 12 during briefing.
Answering the question regarding the expansion of the office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, she recalled that in 2016 the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed steps aimed at stabilizing the situation in the conflict zone and creating an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of the peace process. "To this end, they agreed, in particular, to increase the number of international observers in the conflict zone, which was discussed during subsequent contacts of the parties, including the meeting of the Armenian and Azeri foreign ministers in Krakow at the beginning of 2017, and a fundamental understanding was reached on the number of additional observers, places of their deployment, as well as a number of other related issues, but there is no final decision on them," Zakharova said.
He stated that now there is a new leadership in Armenia, which will discard the prefix "new" in a couple of months. And she added that in the near future the first ministerial consultations will be held. "Then, we hope, there will be more meetings, at which the sides will have an opportunity to consider a wide range of issues of the Karabakh settlement, including the topic of observers," she summed up.
The day before was the first one - an introductory meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Brussels.
