The European Union calls on all parties within the framework of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement to fully participate in the negotiations under the auspices of the Minsk Group co-chairs without preconditions, the EU diplomatic service said after the meeting of Federica Mogherini with the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
As noted by RIA Novosti, Pashinyan is invited to participate in the work of the NATO summit as a representative of the partner country participating in the mission "Strong Support" in Afghanistan.
The head of EU diplomacy Mogherini confirmed at the meeting the support of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "In this context, it is extremely important that the parties fully participate in the negotiations without preconditions under the auspices of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group," the statement says. The EU is also ready to assist in organizing the next elections in Armenia and monitoring them.
"The parties discussed the firm commitment of the new Armenian government to reforms and concrete actions already taken for this purpose," Mogherini confirmed that the European Union is ready to provide concrete support for reforms, including through technical and financial assistance, and stressed the particular importance of combating corruption and judicial reforms, "the EU diplomatic service said in a statement.
"The High Representative for Foreign Policy also stressed the readiness of the EU to assist in the organization and monitoring of the next elections, which should be conducted in accordance with the recommendations of the OSCE / ODIHR," the diplomatic service said.
