As ArmInfo informed earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has reopened the criminal case on an incident occurred in spring 2007. According to the case materials, on April 1, 2007, in Yerevan, at the crossroad of Tumanyan-Nalbandyan streets, a resident of Yerevan D. Simonyan (born in 1984), received a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital. On the same day, A. Ghevondyan appeared in the police, introduced the Sig Sauer pistol and 6 patrons, stating that he had found the pistol near the kindergarten near their house and, because of careless handling of the weapon, fired, causing physical injuries to his friend D. Simonyan. As a result, a criminal case was opened under Article 120 of the RA Criminal Code. Based on the facts obtained by the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that D. Simonyan was injured by negligence of A. Ghevondyan. And considering that D. Simonyan reconciled with the latter, on May 28, 2007 this case was suspended, given the absence of a complaint from the victim. It was decided not to prosecute A. Ghevondyan, and to close the case.
On June 29, 2018 Simonyan submitted a statement to the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office. In the statement, in particular, he notes that it was not Arthur Ghevondyan who shot him, but A. Sargsyan (the son of the third president Serzh Sargsyan's younger brother Sashik Sargsyan). On that day, Simonyan had a quarrel with his friend Ghevondyan, who was under influence of drugs. Sargsyan began to threaten to kill Simonyan, then shot him on his belly from his own pistol. Ghevondyan managed to take the pistol. Sargsyan's borther N. Sargsyan learnt about the incident and delivered Simonyan to hospital. After Simonyan recovered himself the police officers stated that it was Ghevondyan who shot him and the pistol was found near kindergarten. A. and N. Sargsyans threatened Simonyan that if he does not confirm these testimonies, he will not live long. Considering that new circumstances were discovered, the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia decided to reopen a criminal case. To investigate all the circumstances, the case was sent to the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
On July 4, members of the National Security Service conducted a search in Sargsyan's house, after which Hayk Sargsyan was taken to the Investigation Department, and his father Alexander Sargsyan, better known as Sashik 50%, was detained by the National Security Service.
