The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia disclosed the case of large-scale misappropriation and fraud by using the official position in the Shirak State University named after Mikael Nalbandyan, a criminal case was opened on the fact. As the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told ArmInfo, according to the materials received by the police department of Gyumri, the former pro-rector of the above-mentioned university A.F., as well as the former dean of the faculty of physical education and theory, A. Kh., enrolled on a paid basis a magistracy student, and instead of her another student with lower scores was enrolled on tuition-free basis (for the purpose of avoiding military service). "And in order to conceal this criminal activity, they promised the student to repay the first course of her magistracy, which was later not done." It was also found out that in the academic year 2010-2012, 1.185.492.655 Armenian drams were collected as cash for study, of which 722.285.794 AMD was transferred to the cash-box, while there is no information on where the remaining 463,206,861 drams were transferred. Also data were received that in 2012-2016 academic years, during the meeting of secretaries, it was instructed to organize the collection of funds for the printing of diplomas and their inserts. For this goal 5,500 drams were collected from each student. During four years, 20,000,000 drams were collected, although funds were allocated from the university budget for the very same reason, "the Prosecutor General's Office statement reads.
The Office informs that a criminal case was initiated on the basis of clauses 1, p. 3. Article 178 of the RA Criminal Code, clause 1, clause 2, clause 3. Part 2, Article 179 of the RA Criminal Code, Part 1, Part 3, Article 179 of the RA Criminal Code. The case was transferred to the Office of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in the Shirak region.
