ArmInfo. On June 20, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov met in Tirana with the head of the Russian delegation to the PABSEC Mikhail Yemelyanov.
The sides stressed the strategic allied character of the centuries-old Armenian-Russian relations and expressed readiness for their development. The fruitful experience of cooperation between the delegations of the two countries in the interparliamentary structures was especially noted. In the opinion of the NA Vice Speaker, Armenia and Russia should cooperate more closely on parliamentary platforms.
The interlocutors turned to bilateral cooperation within the framework of the EAEU and CSTO. "Armenian-Russian relations are allied, we, parliamentarians, should promote the deepening of allied relations in all spheres," Sharmazanov stressed. In his opinion, security challenges remain a priority for Armenia, and in this aspect RA membership in the CSTO has no alternative and is based on the interests of the Armenian state.
Speaking about the work of the PABSEC, the NA Vice Speaker expressed confidence that the structure should remain committed to its economic orientation and not serve the political interests of certain states.
