ArmInfo. The government of Armenia considers the solution of monopolists' problems in the political and institutional spheres. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan stated in the National Assembly on June 13.
According to him, from the political point of view, the problem is being solved, and from now on there will be no patronage from the state structures. The problem rests on the institutional plane, which will require time and solutions. In part, authorized bodies, for example, the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, began to actively deal with the issue. "In the institutional plan, the work will be carried out gradually, and the fight against monopolies will be constantly in the sight of the government," the deputy prime minister said.
Ensuring competition and combating monopolies are included in the list of priorities of the Armenian government. As noted in the program of the executive body, an attempt was made for a long time to explain the failures in ensuring economic development, the realization of human potential and the growth of social well-being by the geographical position of Armenia, closed borders with two neighbors, the lack of reliable ground communication with the Russian Federation and external political and economic realities. "Without undermining the importance of peace in the region and open borders, the government notes that the main reason for the economic stagnation in Armenia in recent decades has been a lack of competition and equal economic opportunities." Nothing can compensate for the lack of fairness and competition. "Ensuring competition and fairness should be recognized as an integral component economic development," the program says. The government believes that the most important guarantee of substantial economic growth is the formation of an atmosphere of competitiveness and the exclusion of monopolies.
