ArmInfo. Students of Yerevan State University (YSU), today at 11:00, as stated yesterday, started a strike and boycott classes. They demand the resignation of Rector Aram Simonyan and the dissolution of the Board of Guardians of the University.
In addition, students of the YSU are required to conduct a financial audit and suspend the activities of the Student Union and the organizing committee of the university.
The day before the head of the State Control Service of Armenia David Sanasaryan stated that the department headed by him intends to check the activity of Armenian state universities, and Yerevan State University will be one of the first.
At the same time, the initiative of YSU Restart, "taking into account the many problems of the university - low level of education, unfavorable living conditions, inefficient use of finance, lack of academic environment, persecution of teachers and students for political views, partisanship of the university and some of its structures, etc. " called on teachers and students of Yerevan State University to declare a strike and boycott of classes from May 29. Nevertheless, Rector Aram Simonyan stated that he is not going to resign.
