ArmInfo.Servicemen of the Russian military base stationed in Armenia for the first time took part in the military parade dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the celebration of the proclamation of the First Republic and Victory in the Sardarapat battle.
As the press service of the South-East Military District told ArmInfo, at the Sardarapat memorial complex in the city of Armavir in one order parade calculations of the power structures of the two countries took place, after which they laid flowers and wreaths to the dead soldiers. Together with representatives of the Russian and Armenian law enforcement agencies, a dress rehearsal was conducted at the Sardarapat memorial complex in Armavir under the leadership of the commander of the uniting of Colonel Vladimir Elkanov and the commander of the joint group of troops (forces), Major General Tigran Parvanyan.
Ceremonial events in Transcaucasia ended with a concert for veterans of the Second World War, servicemen and members of their families, as well as a visit to the museum of Armenian ethnography and the history of the liberation struggle.

In May 1918, the Armenian people won heroic victories over the Turkish troops invading the country near Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan and Karakilis. It was these victories that enabled the Armenian people to create their own state. To commemorate the victory won by the Armenian people in the Sardarapat battle, the Sardarapat memorial complex and the museum of Armenian ethnography and the history of the liberation struggle were built on the site of the battle.
