ArmInfo. Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Hrachya Rostomyan received a delegation of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), headed by UNDP Resident Representative Shombi Sharp.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the parties discussed issues related to the installation of anti-hail radar stations in Armenia and the modernization of the hydrometeorological system, processes for managing the risks of natural disasters in Armenia, namely: the proper and safe storage and further elimination of pesticides and hazardous chemicals existing in the country, in particular, at the Nairit plant and the Nubarashen solid waste dump. In this vein, Rostomyan stressed the need to give the problems a final solution."
According to the source, during the meeting the parties also discussed the organizational issues related to the holding of the UN Regional Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Armenia on 26-27 June, which will be attended by representatives of the public and private sectors of Asia and the South Caucasus. Upon completion of the meeting, Rostomyan invited the delegation to take part in the event called "Day of Resistance to Disasters" on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake, which will be held from December 4 to 6 in Armenia.
