ArmInfo. The deputy of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, on May 25, in accordance with the "Regulations of the National Assembly", withdrew his application for resignation in writing.
The speaker of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan said this. It should be noted that Alain Simonyan received a mandate in the Armenian Parliament, thus taking the place of the head of the Elk faction Nikol Pashinyan, who became prime minister. However, on May 23 Simonyan stated that he was giving up his mandate in Parliament, because he wanted to stay in the Council of Elders of the City Hall. Simonyan also hopes that in the case of Margaryan's resignation, he will be nominated as a candidate for the post of mayor. At the same time, he did not exclude the fact that he can keep the mandate of the NA deputy. On May 24, despite numerous protests by Simonyan, Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan sent a protocol to the CEC on the termination of his authority as a member of the Council of Elders Alain Simonyan. After that, the Central Electoral Commission suspended Simonyan's powers as a member of the Council of Elders.
