ArmInfo.The ceremony of awarding the laureates of the President's Prize for 2017 was held at the presidential residence in Armenia.
President Armen Sarkissian congratulated everyone on the occasion of the centenary of the First Republic. According to him, it was the First Republic that laid the foundation for the creation of the next. Moreover, according to Sarkissian's conviction, despite the short period of the existence of the First Republic, during this period many successes were achieved, laying the foundation for the creation of Soviet Armenia and all those achievements that were achieved in these years in the country in various fields.
At the same time, the Armenian President singled out three important aspects for Armenia. "In my opinion, the first is our house.In my understanding, the house is our Homeland, country, citizen of the country, state institutions, the Constitution, the clergy. The second is our security, which implies not only a soldier standing on the protection of the state border, but also services that ensure this security, economic security that ensures the development and prosperity of the country, ensuring the place of Armenia in the unity of nations and on the international arena, the security of Artsakh and the just settlement of the Karabakh conflict. And the third is our culture, science and education, "the Armenian President said.
In his turn, the co-founder of the Poghosyan Fund Albert Poghosyan congratulated the Armenian President on his election to this responsible post, noting that this appointment ensured a smooth transition of the country to a parliamentary form of government. He also congratulated the people of Armenia for his ability to achieve peacefully the political landscape of the country, as well as Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for determination, courage and determination. "Calling on the President and Prime Minister of Armenia, to ensure the positive impact of these changes on the further development and prosperity of the country, especially in such areas as science, education and technology," Poghosyan said. He also positively assessed the fact that Serzh Sargsyan was able to give up power, and leave without spilling a single drop of blood. Tigran Mansuryan and Marcello Flores (Italy) were awarded for the significant contribution to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide; in the field of medicine - Mher Bicharyan, Marina Baghdasaryan, Diana Harutyunyan; natural sciences - Gegham Gevorgyan, Karen Keryan, Samvel Shirakanyan, Anush Ovakimyan; physics - Ashot Petrosyan, Karine Hovhannesyan, Marina Derdyan; technical sciences and IT - there are no laureates; Humanities - Lilit Simonyan; literature - Hovhannes Yeranyan, Ara Arakelyan; art - Zaven Khachikyan, Hayk Baghdasaryan, Vahram Baghdasaryan, Hayk Badalyan, Lusine Sargsyan, Siranush Mkhitaryan, Arthur Sahakyan, Mane Baghdasaryan, Mane Grigoryan; literature - Yervand Vardanyan; the performance of classical music - Juliet Alexanyan, Hovhannes Andreasyan; instrumental performance of classical music - Diana Adamyan (violin), Tigran Petrosyan (piano).
The president's prize is coordinated and organized by the Hayastan Pan-Armenian Fund with the funding of the Poghosyan Foundation. The award includes a monetary award, a letter of commendation and a badge. Since the foundation of the award (2001), 378 citizens and organizations, including 24 international ones, have become laureates of the prize.
