ArmInfo. In June this year, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group are expected to visit Armenia. On May 23, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated from the rostrum of the National Assembly of Armenia.
According to him, at present it is important to preserve the dynamics of the negotiation process on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict exclusively within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. "In the near future we will have the opportunity to restore the negotiation process, which was reported to the co-chairs during the recent telephone conversation," the minister said. He added that Armenia has acted and stands exclusively for a peaceful settlement of the problem, and in this context it is important to preserve the atmosphere of the talks in order to avoid escalating violence, which in turn will significantly complicate the negotiation process.
The minister recalled that recently, together with the head of the defense department, he visited the Nakhichevan section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, thereby sending a signal about special attention to this section of the border. "I hope that there will not be any incidents in this sector," the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed.
To recall, in the official statement of the mediators following the meeting with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, held in Paris on May 15, said that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs expect a meeting with the new Armenian leadership in June this year. The Azerbaijani minister and mediators discussed the possibilities of advancing the peace process on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. "Mammadyarov expressed Azerbaijan's readiness to resume active negotiations as soon as possible," the statement published on the OSCE website says.
