ArmInfo. The deputy chairman of the Republican Party, head of the parliamentary commission for foreign affairs Armen Ashotyan criticized the new Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and some members of his Cabinet.
In particular, Ashotyan noted that some statements by Pashinyan and his ministers resemble the manifestations of dictate and are contrary to the laws. Thus, he considered unacceptable the statement of the new prime minister that Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan will accept his proposal on resignation if he - Pashinyan makes such an offer. "How can the head of the executive branch make such ultimatum proposals to the representative of another independent branch of government - local government elected by the mayor, which violates the principle of equal rights of branches of power and the norms of democracy," Ashotyan said. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the video message of the new Minister of Education and Science Araik Harutyunyan, in which he calls on teachers and staff of educational institutions to withdraw from the ranks of the Republican Party. "This is also a violation of the law and the norms of democracy, and everyone is free to choose the political party and his political views, such methods are the direct way to dictate," Ashotyan said.
Concerning the corruption struggle launched by the Cabinet, Ashotyan noted that this is a very important step, while drawing parallels with former Georgian leader Mikheil Saakashvili: "At one time, Saakashvili succeeded as head of Georgia in the fight against corruption, but lost in the 2008 war, as a result of which Georgia lost Abkhazia and South Ossetia."
Another RPA deputy Samvel Farmanyan noted that the Republican Party, with its remarks, achieved the fact that Prime Minister Pashinyan corrected his ill-conceived and incorrect theses on many important issues. "Otherwise, the consequences could be disastrous for the republic," he said. At the same time, the MP acknowledged that under the circumstances Pashinyan made some adjustments in his previous views. "But these statements must be supported by concrete actions, otherwise the consequences will be irreversible," the Republican summed up.
