ArmInfo.Former Defense Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan gave two advices to his student - the newly appointed Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan.
"I congratulate you on your appointment to this high office and wish you good luck in your responsible position to ensure the protection and security of our state. However, I would like to give two advices: one of them, a reminder of the advice I gave you in student years, the advice of a person who for many years served as a fatherland to a newly appointed official in different positions. When you were students, I always told you that you can express any opinion, but you must clearly represent the essence of the topic about which you express an opinion. And I want to say frankly that I'm disappointed. You confidently express opinion on the "Nation-Army" concept without having a clear idea about it. That you yesterday represented as the main thesis of this concept, you cannot find in any document, or in speeches and projects implemented within the framework of the concept "Nation-army." From the logic of your interview, it followed that the concept is designed to teach society to love the motherland, because we came to the fact that society does not love the Motherland," the statement says. Sargsyan, published on Facebook.
"The Nation-Army concept is not about how to teach society to love its homeland, but about how to protect it as effectively as possible, including by involving an active reserve, by comparing urgent and contractual services, by introducing more practical mechanism of social security of servicemen. I repeat that everyone has the right to express opinion, however, an official expressing public opinion should at least have an idea of what he is talking about." Sargsyan wrote.
The former Defense Minister advised Grigoryan, regardless of the severity of the responsibility, not to try to receive dividends by denigrating the work done before. You are trying to strike at the formation of the Armenian army and the forces that brought Artsakh victories, which may be permissible for a representative of one or another political force, but not the Secretary of the Security Council. It's time to rise above this and show state thinking," Sargsyan concluded.
According to Sargsyan, the army should function more transparently, reacting to any question and concern of the society. "As a subject of society, the army must establish criteria in the sphere of economic competition, and fight against corruption, and increase efficiency," the ex-minister concluded.
