ArmInfo.Naira Zohrabyan, Chairman of the Permanent Commission on European Integration Issues met on May 21 with Italian Ambassador to Armenia Vincenzo Del Monaco.
As the press service of the Parliament reports, during the meeting the parties discussed the new political situation in Armenia. Zohrabyan noted that the ambassador started his diplomatic mission during the historical processes in Armenia, when the country in all spheres is going through revolutionary changes. The deputy also noted that the cooperation of the republic with the European Union and the EU member states is very important in this issue.
Touching upon the Agreement on Comprehensive and Expanded Partnership between Armenia and the EU, Zohrabyan expressed the hope that Italy will soon ratify this document. During the meeting, issues of investment opportunities in Armenia were also discussed.
The Italian Ambassador noted that numerous Italian investors are ready to discuss the issue of programs related to serious investments in Armenia. He said that the Italian company "Renko" is actively continuing and will expand investments in the country, and numerous tourist organizations are interested in the country that has the oldest history.
The sides also discussed the Karabakh conflict and ways of its settlement. The problems that hindered the development of Armenia, which should be discussed in connection with the new political situation, on the agenda of the relationship between Armenia and the EU, as well as between Armenia and the EU countries were also touched upon.
