ArmInfo. Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Babloyan met with the final mission in the country, Japan's Ambassador Eiji Taguchi. The press service of the Armenian government told ArmInfo.
Appreciating the current level of the Armenian-Japanese relations, Babloyan stated that they are built on mutual trust. The head of the Armenian parliament expressed gratitude to the Japanese government, for facilitating the implementation of projects, in Armenia for years. At the same time, Babloyan highly appreciated the Ambassador's personal contribution to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
At the same time, the head of the Armenian legislature noted that Armenia is a state moving along the democratic path, which is clearly illustrated by the processes taking place in the country in the last days, when police and demonstrators showed tolerance and respect towards each other.
Babloyan also highly appreciated Japan's balanced position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, stressing that the democratic Artsakh will never be able to become part of authoritarian Azerbaijan. "The Artsakh people see their future as such - independent and democratic, and there can be no alternative to this," Babloyan added.
In his turn, the Ambassador of Japan highly appreciated the activation of the Armenian-Japanese inter- parliamentary cooperation in recent years. At the same time, he stressed that Japan stands for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The ambassador also said that the Japanese parliament will ratify the agreement with Armenia on mutual investments in the foreseeable future, expressing hope that the RA National Assembly will do it in a short time.
