ArmInfo. On May 8 Nikol Pashinyan will surely become the Prime Minister of Armenia, and will certainly face a lot of challenges. An expert of the Center for the Study of Central Asia and the Caucasus of the Institute of Oriental Studies Andrei Areshev expressed such an opinion to ArmInfo.
"Considering Pashinyan's lack of experience in state administration and his personal team, it is still not completely clear how he will cope with all this, while Pashinyan's natural political union with Armenia's largest businessman Gagik Tsaroukyan, nevertheless, gives his slogans about the demolition of the oligarchic system is less convincing. It is clear that today's and future tactical allies will inevitably demand payment for loyalty. And in this light, it is very important to prevent the transformation of the current emotional euphoria arm retirement homes company in another bitter disappointment, "the expert said.
Commenting the possibility of inter political course change of the state, Areshev suggested that, considering non regulated Karabakh conflict, an optional and pragmatic approach will be kept in Armenia during any power from the point of view of the national security strengthening.
All in all, the expert sees the reasons for the change of power in Armenia in the extremely reckless policy of the former authorities, the violation of Serzh Sargsyan's previously publicly announced obligations, and also in his own hint of a possible repetition of the tragic events of March 1, 2008. In this light, Areshev recalled that he repeatedly expressed doubts about the expediency of reforming the Armenian Constitution in connection with the transition of the republic to a parliamentary form of government.
In general, the expert defines the recent events in Armenia as an acute internal political crisis, caused by the burden of the problems accumulated in recent years. Among them, according to his estimates, corruption, a high level of social stratification and unemployment, mass migration, the conscious line of the former authorities to provoke mass apathy in the society and the belief that nothing can be changed in principle.
