ArmInfo. Speaker of the Armenian parliament Ara Babloyan met with the detained deputies of the National Assembly.
"I met my colleagues first and foremost as a doctor, as a grandfather, as a compassionate friend." I hope that my request to my colleagues will have some effect, "Babloyan said after the meeting.
Earlier, the head of the department for work with the media Arsen Babayan reported on his Facebook page at night that from the international airport "Zvartnots" Babloyan went to a meeting with the detained deputies. "Babloyan intends to urge his colleagues to sit down at a real negotiating table, on a real agenda, in a natural atmosphere of negotiations," Babayan said.
As reported by ArmInfo, Babloyan was informed of their detention: "We are informed that according to part 2 of Article 96 of the RA Constitution, namely" On the deprivation of freedom of a deputy is immediately notified to the NA Speaker, "the Special Investigative Service of the Republic of Armenia on 22 April 2018 notified in writing RA NA Speaker on the Detention of the Deputies of the National Assembly Nikol Pashinyan, Sasun Mikaelyan and Ararat Mirzoyan on the acts falling under Part 1, Part 2, Article 251.1 of the RA Criminal Code, "the statement said on the website of the Armenian parliament reads.
It should be noted that on April 22, an hour after the negotiations between the Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan and Nikol Pashinyan failed, the police began to force the dispersal of the protest in the administrative district of Erebuni. Pashinyan, Mirzoyan and Mikaelyan were abducted by law enforcers from the place of assembly. It was decided to detain all three deputies. Mirzoyan and Mikaelyan are in the police station of the Shengavit administrative district. Meanwhile, the location of Pashinyan is still unknown. Protests in the capital do not stop. The police declare the illegality of the protest actions and threatens with force suppression, in accordance with the letter of the law.
