ArmInfo. Armenian Ambassador in Baltic countries Tigran Mkrtchyan on April 13 met with the Vice-Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, chairman of European Committee Gediminas Kirkilas.
According to the press service of the MFA, during the meeting the sides discussed the Agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership between Armenia and the EU, which was approved by the Government of Lithuania. In this context, the Vice Speaker of the Seimas noted that the ratification of the Armenia-EU Agreement will be held in the Seimas of Lithuania next week. Gediminas Kirkilas congratulated Armenia on the fact that the country had completely switched over to the parliamentary system of government. Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the details of the transition period at the request of the vice speaker.
On April 5, the Government of Lithuania approved the agreement on the Comprehensive and Expanded Armenia-EU Partnership, sending it to the Seimas for ratification.
The agreement between Armenia and the EU, among the member countries of the European Union has already been ratified by Estonia, and the Parliament of Latvia. The agreement between Armenia and the EU was signed on November 24, 2017 at the summit of the Eastern Partnership in Brussels.
