ArmInfo. The final press conference of the ODIHR/OSCE observation mission monitoring the presidential elections in Azerbaijan was marked by a scandal.
ODIHR/OSCE observers gave an extremely negative assessment of the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, describing them as undemocratic and not free. When European observers tried to read out their report at a press conference, the group of "young Azeri diplomats" jumped up and literally attacked the mission representatives, shouting various insults and calling them "Armenian agents." European observers in protest broke off the press conference and left the hall. It should be noted that the day before presidential elections were held in Azerbaijan, which was won by Ilham Aliyev. The opposition did not take part in them in protest. Aliyev is elected president for the fourth time in a row, this time for a period of 7 years.
European observers considered that during the elections the basic rights and freedoms of citizens were violated, they passed in an undemocratic atmosphere, excluding political pluralism and freedom of speech.
