On March 21, the Parliament of Armenia approved in the second and final reading amendments to the laws "On transplantation of human organs and (or) tissues", "On medical assistance for donation and blood transfusion and its components "and in the Criminal Code, said Deputy Minister of Healthcare of Armenia Sergey Khachatryan, presenting the amendments, the package provides for bringing the laws in compliance with the constitutional norms.
"They are aimed at determining responsibility for violating the norms of the law, in accordance with the provisions on illegal trafficking in organs and tissues provided by the Constitution, the implementation of genetic experiments, reproductive cloning, as well as facilitating the processing of necessary documentation," Khachatryan said. According to the deputy minister, the amendments also provide for involving in the process of organizing the reservation of state blood reserves structures that have the right to provide relevant services. The National Center for Blood Storage will deal with this issue.
