ArmInfo.A high percentage of Vladimir Putin's support in the presidential elections in Russia is most likely a logical outcome of the propaganda. The director of the Caucasus Institute, Alexander Iskandaryan, expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
As the press secretary of the Russian Embassy in Armenia Veronika Artenyan told ArmInfo, the incumbent Russian president won the support of 90-92% of voters in Armenia on March 18.
About 5000 citizens took part in the voting in Yerevan, more than 1200 people voted in Gyumri.
Very few people know Grigory Yavlinsky, Pavel Grudinin and Sergei Baburin in Armenia, not to mention their programs, but anyone who watches Vladimir Putin in Armenia is well aware of the fact that Channel One and VGTRK work quite actively including in Armenia, and information flows for the purpose of throwing into the mass consciousness have been built accordingly," he said.
As the second factor of voting in favor of Putin, Iskandaryan noted the "patriotic" attitude of Russian citizens living as far from Russia as possible, not only in Armenia. He also noted, in general, quite a low turnout, of Russian citizens residing in Armenia, stressing that according to unofficial data, about 100,000 Armenians with Russian passports live in the republic.
"For more serious, objective analysis, I need figures: you need to know the structure of voters, their social status, education, a number of other factors capable of answering the question of the reasons for Putin's popularity among Armenians with Russian passports." Even Armenians are citizens of Armenia and Armenians citizens Russia is a completely different social stratum, and to get the full picture it is necessary to do the corresponding, rather serious work, "the political scientist said.
Explaining to the ArmInfo correspondent his motivation in the vote for Vladimir Putin, the Russian citizen who voted in Yerevan, conditioned her choice with the absence of an alternative. "The opposition has proved its own failure for a long time, and Putin raised the shaky authority of Russia on the international arena, so today I vote for someone who will adequately defend Russia's interests at the international level," the girl said.
According to preliminary data of the CEC of the Russian Federation, after processing 99.75% of the ballots, Vladimir Putin is gaining 76.67% of the vote.
